Ducks & Angels. What more could you want?

I love coming home to see that my spam filter decided to stop working some time in the middle of the day and after restarting it, I have accumulated over 8,000 messages. Who knows how long it's been off, but that means that between 8:00am and 7:00pm, I received upwards of 8,000 messages. After finally wading through them all, exactly 20 were legitimate and exactly 10 of those 20 were from a mailing list I'm on. I love the internet. Only had one message waiting at GMail - of course, it was legitimate and there weren't any spams there to lose it in. Like the message I was just alerted I lost from a friend a week ago. The mail was sent, but my overzealous spam filter ate it. Stupid spammers.

I'm not really sure if everything that comes out of the book "Unfit for Command" is true, but the recounts of how Kerry acted in his brief military role (4 months) in Vietnam sure seems damaging now.

With Kerry in the lead, the boats approached a small hamlet with three or four grass huts. Pigs and chickens were milling around peacefully. As the boats drew closer, the villagers fled. There were no political symbols or flags in evidence in the tiny village. It was obvious to Bates that existing policies, decency, and good sense required the boats to simply move on.

Instead, Kerry beached his boat directly in the small settlement. Upon his command, the numerous small animals were slaughtered by heavy-caliber machine guns. Acting more like a pirate than a naval officer, Kerry disembarked and ran around with a Zippo lighter, burning up the entire hamlet.
Add this to the fact that his shipmates have said that his first two purple hearts were for minor injuries and it seems like we really can't trust much of anything Kerry says. However, it seems as if everyone misses the easy way to settle all this once and for all. Release your military records Sen. Kerry. If you want to be the Commander in Chief, do we not have a right to see how you earned your three purple hearts, your silver star, and your bronze star while you were in Vietnam for only four months? Do we not have a right to know what you actually did in those four months in Vietnam which you then returned home from and denounced outright in front of a Congressional committee? It should be quite interesting to see how this all plays out in the weeks to come.

Just remember that the President has done nothing to keep us safe here in the United States after 9/11 and we'll be safer with John Kerry as President because he will "repair ties with foreign countries" like France & Germany.
WASHINGTON (AP) - Two leaders of a mosque in Albany, N.Y., were arrested on charges stemming from an alleged plot to help a man they thought was a terrorist purchase a shoulder-fired missile, federal authorities said Thursday.

The men have ties to a group called Ansar al-Islam, which has been linked to the al-Qaida terror network, according to two federal law enforcement authorities speaking on condition of anonymity.

You often hear about the stupid criminals who admit to smoking pot while being arrested or doing other stupid things, but you hardly ever hear about the smart ones.
Three armed robbers sought a presidential-sized distraction Wednesday morning, hitting three Davenport banks during downtown campaign stops by President Bush and U.S. Sen. John Kerry.
Of course, they didn't all get away with it, but still. Pretty smart to hit up the banks while both Presidential candidates were in town.

Interesting. Of course, probably more evidence of that "vast right wing conspiracy."

Just a couple quick thoughts today.
  • The more I think about it, the more offended I am by the "four more years of hell" quote from Teresa Heinz. Where has she been living for the last four years? How much money has she made the last four years? This isn't North Korea where her company would be state run and she would have no rights as a woman. This isn't Iraq under Saddam where she wouldn't be able to show her face in the streets. She's been living in the United States for the past four years, which, after 9/11 haven't been hit by a terrorist attack, which, have enjoyed countless years of prosperity (especially for the Heinz family) and, which, she is free to vote, own property, dress how she wants, say what she wants, and act as stupid as she wants without fear or reprisal from the government, without fear of being thrown in jail, without fear of being rounded up and beaten. It sure must have been hell for her over the past four years.

  • Last week, I heard Kerry on a campaign trip where he stated that he would have immediately implemented every one of the recommendations by the 9/11 commission and he took George W. Bush to task for not doing so. Now, I do agree with most of the points the 9/11 commission suggested, but not all of them are appropriate steps to take immediately without any hesitation. Most of the steps, George W. Bush has already approved and put into motion, but a few, he's still waiting to see how they would help or hinder our efforts in the war on terror and how they might help our country. These are the recommendations coming from the so-called "non-partisan" commission which stood up on their pedestals trying to get their five minutes of fame in front of the television cameras as Richard Clarke testified, the same commission which ripped a news outlet for releasing a document that was approved for release by the National Security Advisor, the same commission which, in the end, didn't really recommend anything new or radical and now wants to stay on the job, getting paid obscene amounts, to oversee their recommendations.

  • And last, but certainly not least, today I leave you with a question. To find the answer, highlight the text in the box below.

Where was Fahrenheit 9/11 screened on national television - not as a "documentary" or as "art," but as propaganda?
    Cuba

You always hear stories about the Republican attack machine as it tries to discredit various reports and sources, but do you ever hear about the Democratic attack machine on the news? Do you ever hear about a "vast left-wing conspiracy?" Because it sure seems that for asking a simple question, one reporter has been harassed by the "liberal fanatics."
In hundreds of e-mails and telephone calls to his office and home, and even on the street, Mr. McNickle's life was threatened. He was called a "Nazi" and a variety of obscene names, and had death wished upon him.

In a Boston Globe interview, singer Patti LaBelle advised Mrs. Kerry to "pimp slap" Mr. McNickle; liberal columnist Molly Ivins suggested he had inappropriately "touched" Mrs. Kerry; and former Baltimore Sun columnist Jack Germond told CNN that Mr. McNickle "was not a legitimate newspaperman."
Perhaps this is the "hell" that Mrs. Heinz was talking about under President Bush...

I respect everyone's right to their own opinion, but you'd really think that the wife of a presidential candidate would think before speaking on the campaign trail. First she calls the democratic party "putrid" and Senator Kennedy a "bastard," then she states that "unamerican traits" are creeping into politics today and tells a reporter to "shove it" after he asked her about using the word "unamerican" and then today, she equates living in the United States to "hell."
When a Bush supporter with a bullhorn shouted "four more years" from the back of a large crowd packed into a downtown Milwaukee park, Heinz Kerry, who was introducing her husband, responded: "They want four more years of hell."
I guess those "unamerican traits" she was talking about creeping into politics don't include calling a sitting Senator a "bastard," calling the freedoms we enjoy today "hell," and telling a reporter to "shove it" after he only asked her about something she was on tape as saying.
