Ducks & Angels. What more could you want?

Well, the draft is done and I feel I drafted a mighty fine team. My only weakness is at WR, but I should be fine since I only have to start two and I have two top-tier WR's, just no good backups. Here's a breakdown:

QB: Steve McNair (TEN), Drew Brees (SD) & Kordell Stewart (CHI). All three are top-notch QBs and the McNair/Brees combo is a particularly lethal one. Whenever McNair faces up against a tough defense or has a bye week, I've got Brees to step in and shoulder the load. If both have a tough week, there's ol' faithful Kordell to back them up. I'm very pleased with my QBs.

RB: Edgerrin James (IND), William Green (CLE), Anthony Thomas (CHI), Zack Crockett (OAK) & Stacey Mack (HOU). Yes - I have too many RBs. But since we have a flex position in our league for a WR or a RB, I will most likely be using an RB most of the time. Also, according to my calculations, the James/Green combo could be deadly as my McNair/Brees combo is. But, whenever James or Green has a hard week or a bye week, both Crockett and Thomas as slated to have easy weeks, thus making them great back-ups. Mack was a keeper and I plan on using him or Thomas for trade-bait.

WR: Eric Moulds (BUF), Quincy Morgan (IND), Todd Pinkston (PHI), James Thrash (PHI). I'm a bit week at WR, but with Moulds & Morgan shouldering the load of the WR points on my team, I should be fine. The only problem I see is the Pinkston/Thrash duo. Both are on the same team and will be fighting for catches. It wouldn't hurt to have them both in on particularly easy offensive weeks for PHI, but picking one to outperform the other will be hard unless a clear #1 WR at PHI emerges.

TE: Todd Heap (BAL) & Freddie Jones (ARI). I was extremely surprised to see Todd Heap fall so far and to not be picked at the #1 spot for TE's. He's easily a top 3 TE and will most likely play every week for me. Freddie Jones is a mediocre TE, but is the #1 TE at ARI, so when Heap has a hard week or a bye week, Jones will be a good fit - assuming ARI can score some points this year.

K: John Carney (NO). Just one K. Don't need any more. Will pick up a spare when Carney has a bye. I had him as the #3 K in the league and I got him in the 14th round (I had planned to pick a kicker in the 13th, but there was no run on them and he fell to the 14th).

DEF: Jacksonville, Washington & Indianapolis. I really wanted a Washintgon/New Orleans combo defense, but New Orleans was picked the pick before me so I was quite upset, but made due with my pick and took Indianapolis. According to my calculations, the NO/WAS combo was the best, but since I had already taken WAS, I was forced to take the #3 combo of WAS/IND. The #2 combo was JAX/NO, so basically, I have a very good triple threat at DEF. Each week except weeks 3, 5 & 7, one of the teams should have good output, so I can add yet another team if absolutely necessary (especially week 7 when both IND & JAX have byes). But the best thing about the two teams is that in weeks 14-16, they are expected to score over 15 each week - a big boost for my playoff run.

That's about it. I just can't wait for the football season now.

Holy crap! Saved by the Bell Trivia! Both my brother and I grew up with Kelly, Slater, Screech & Zack. I had thought that if both my brother and I went to play, we'd have no problem getting a perfect score (as my friends did with Harry Potter trivia - I know nothing about it, but they knew just a bit too much). But looking at some of these questions here, they look pretty hard. Screech's dog's name? High school valedictorian? Hard stuff - but I'll be playing nonetheless and having some fun.

On a side note, I was reading a mailing list and people were bitching and complaining about this trivia game because they didn't grow up with it. If I have to put up with crap like playback which centers on music of the 50's & 60's, why shouldn't they have to put up with games like Saved by the Bell? What's so inherently wrong with NTN catering to the younger players out there? Give me a break.

Well, the football draft is just one and a half hours away and I'm ready to go. I got out my back-up keyboard and mouse so I don't have to use the KVM to switch between computers. With two monitors, two keyboards & 2 mice connected to two separate computers, I can track the draft on one computer and actually make my picks on the other. It'll give me a lot more screen real estate and should help with the draft. But the question is...have I gone too far?

For the past 5 hours, I've been consolidating all of the printed documents I have collected over the past few weeks in preparation for my draft. Tomorrow at 12:20pm, for about 3 hours, I will be in front of my computer, all IM clients turned off, e-mail closed and logged off from all discussion boards as I draft the ultimate team in an effort to win some cash. With the #6 pick in the draft, I'm not sure which running back will fall to me, but whatever happens, hopefully I'll have a good draft. We'll just have to wait and see...full draft results to be posted soon.

So lookie what I got in the mail today. Many thanks to Buena Vista Home Entertainment for providing these fine discs for me to review. I watched the pilot over again today and it looks amazing in widescreen. I then watched the pilot again with the commentary by J.J. Abrams and Jennifer Garner on and it was great. Though there was some downtime and I had expected a look inside/behind the scenes a bit more, it was a fun commentary. I need to go watch episode 2 now which features commentaries by the writers of the show.

And I thought my 1/2 terrabyte of hard drive storage was a lot. I really need to win the lotto/get paid $1 mil. a year/win the lotto so I can build a system like this. Oh yeah, I'd put NTN in my house too.

Yesterday, Arnold was out in California touting his plans to fix the huge deficit and he mentioned various ideas. All fine and well - I'm sure he's just saying what he's told to say. But then, out of the blue, another pundit running for governor as an "independent," Arianna Huffington criticized the remarks made by Arnold saying that he should talk to his "fat-cat friends in Washington" about the problems in California. While I realize that the tax-cuts and various other governmental decisions in Washington D.C. have no doubt hurt the state of California, how can Arianna attack Arnold? Do you really think that Arnold can just go to Washington and tell the president what to do? Arnold has absolutely no say in Washington and since Arianna can't find anything wrong with his solutions, she's criticizing one of the causes of the problems in California (she doesn't mention Grey Davis' gross mismanagement of the state). I'm not quite sure where she's trying to go with this. She says she's independent, yet all she's done is criticize Arnold and the Republicans in Washington and she has an article on her site talking about how "Corporate Tax Cheats Wreak Havoc on the Neediest Among Us" - yet, when she filed the papers to run for governor, we found out she's only paid ~$800 over the past two years in income taxes as she's written off losses because of her own company (sounds awfully like a corporate tax cheat to me).

I just found this amazing - as much as I've been inconvenienced by the stuipd virus going around (over 2000 received (and filtered accordingly) in my inbox thus far), the people behind it seem incredibly smart and you have to give them credit. Being able to pack such a dangerous payload in such a small package (just 70kb) is amazing. Not only does it scan your address book for e-mail addresses, but it also checks your internet cache and spiders it for additional addresses. It then spoofs the originating e-mail address and uses a multi-threaded SMTP engine to fire off countless versions of itself while you are none the wiser.

Now, to top it all off, it has been programmed to query a time server to get the exact time and at that exact time (it was noon pacific today), it would connect to one of 20 random computers. Not just any computer though - a personal home PC that had been previously hijacked by the spammers (it's not hard to take control of a PC that someone has broadband hooked into without a virus scanner or firewall). These 20 computers were not just home PC's, but they were on various networks in various countries, so you couldn't just shut down a subnet of an ISP, you had to work with 20 different ISPs in different countries to get these computers offline. For just one company, that's not easy to do, but once the FBI got involved, it shouldn't have been too hard to shut the computers down. If the spammers were smarter, they would have used 100 computers in 50 countries or something like that, but still, the advanced features of this virus were amazing.

Even more amazing is the stupidity of the general public. They blindly open attachments. They don't update the virus definitions within their virus scanner (if they even run a scanner at all). They don't utilize the Winodws Update website (the hole exploited by the virus has been patchable for weeks now). They don't user a firewall to keep out unwanted traffic...and security experts are stumped as to how this virus spread so fast. 1 - It was expertly programmed...I can only imagine what the payload was waiting on those 20 computers that were shut down by the FBI. And 2 - the general internet public is stupid. They use AOL. They don't patch their system. They just go online, download trojans, open attachments, and don't use an up-to-date virus scanner or firewall. Idiots - the whole lot of them.

Well, after an initial trial which lost my first post, I've finally got all the settings right and now I can start my blog. This is my second attempt at a blog - the first one failed for a couple of reasons. 1 - I didn't update it frequently enough. What incentive is there for people to read a blog if it's not regularaly updated? 2 - I tried to make it anonymous. I don't know why. I just figured I could talk about whatever and whomever I wanted if I was anonymous. However, you can't get people to read your blog if it's anonymous since you have to reveal it's you to get them to go to it.

So, here's my second try. I'll just be posting randomness from around the web, randomness from my life, and randomness regarding whatever else I choose to post about. Enjoy!
