While the Harmony is still charging (nice rechargable battery needs to get fully charged before first use), I got the HTPC playing DVDs and all my TV shows are working perfectly (though one cover needs to be switched). Next up: Getting the remote working perfectly. I originally bought the Harmony because I was upset with the iMon remote that came with the case - but since I restarted the computer - the remote works much better.

So maybe the Harmony will go back...we'll just see how well it controls all of my theater components - if it works as advertised, I'll keep it, but if it can't get all of my devices to the right settings with one button, it'll go back.

I knew there was a reason I blogged everything and saved all my old bookmarks.

Today I picked up the Logitech Harmony 880 remote at BestBuy (shudder), but they have a good return policy, so if it doesn't work as I want it to, I can easily return it in a week or two.

To setup the remote, it's all done over the internet and then it's uploaded to the remote via USB. To setup each device, you need the make and model number.

I checked the back of my TV and had no idea what model number it was (luckily the page below which chronicled my building a MAME cabinet had the exact number). And then, I couldn't find my DVD player model number, but luckily, my old bookmarks included a link to this site where I learned how to make my DVD player region free and Macrovision free. So I've got:

Onkyo HT-R320 Receiver
Toshiba 27A41 TV
Daewoo DVD-5800
Scientific Atlanta 8000 Cable Box

Those are all setup and now...we just have to figure out how to get it working with my new HTPC - which was the main reason for purchasing the device. However, I've read that it has problems with the included iMon receiver, so if that's the case, I'll have to hack that or just take the remote back.

Windows XP Media Center Edition is here. It's running. And it works flawlessly. I've got drive letters Y: and Z: mapped to my main computer sharing Audio and Video off of the 848 gig RAID array. I've got Meedio's TV plugin working and giving me access to Arrested Development, Da Ali G Show, Deadwood, MacGyver, MI-5, Scrubs, Seinfeld, Viva La Bam, and The X-Files all on demand.

I've got 47.2 gigs of music all on demand. And there's more coming. DVDs should be able to stream without problems - just have to set those up next and then we're done.

I've got a slight audio problem which I need to adjust - the television shows are quiet when compared to the rest of the sounds and the remote is too sensitive. Hopefully I can get something like the Harmony 880 and alleviate those problems since I'm already sick of the remote jumping where it shouldn't (but I do believe the Harmony will solve all those problems). I'll keep ya updated.

Well, I think it's done. Other than one slight upgrade I want to do in the future (I want to re-install WinXP and to do so, I want to upgrade my hard drive to the recently released 147 GB Western Digital Raptor), I think it's complete.

Final Configuration of the newly-named Zeus:

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
AMD Opteron 175 Dual Core 2.2 GHz 1MB L2 Cache
Zalman 7700AlCu Cooler
74 GB 10,000RPM Western Digital Hard Drive (69.23 usable gigs)
4x300 GB 7,200RPM Maxtor Hard Drives in RAID5 Array (838.38 usable gigs)
Plextor PX-716SA DVD±RW Dual Layer SATA DVD-ROM
OCZ Platinum RAM 2x1GB PC3200
eVGA 7800 GT Video Card 256 MB RAM
Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music Sound Card
Antec NeoPower 480 Modular Power Supply (Seasonic S12 600W Power Supply in the mail to be installed)
Antec P160 Case with 2x120mm cooling fans
Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000
Ergodex DX1 Input System
Logitech Cordless Trackman Wheel
Klipsch 2.1 THX Certified Speakers
Viewsonic VA720 17" Monitor (to be upgraded in the future to Dell 2007FPW or 2407FPW)

Ok, so I thought I was done upgrading, but I guess I'm not...monitor definitely needs to go up in size and the Viewsonic will make a nice secondary monitor (I need multiple monitors after working on them every day at work) and the hard drive upgrade would be very nice and coming soon...

The HTPC is awaiting an operating system at this point (which is in the same shipment as the Seasonic S12 600W power supply) and then I can get it running. Stats on the HTPC:

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Motherboard
AMD XP64 3700+ 2.4GHz, 1 MB L2 Cache
Thermalright XP90 Cooler
Patriot Extreme Performance RAM 2x1GB PC3200
nVidia 6600 GT Video Card 128MB RAM
Chaintech 7.1 Audio Card
BenQ 1620PRO DVD±RW Dual Layer DVD-ROM
Samsung Spinpoint P80 80GB Hard Drive
Silverstone LC-14M Case
Seasonic S12 430W Power Supply

Can't wait to get it up and running!
