Shame on you if you're not watching. Forget the All-Star "This Time it Counts (for only two teams)" Game, the real action is in the Tour. Today, Lance held a strong position within the peloton and kept his 6th place overall. I almost felt bad for the two riders who were in a breakaway all day up until the last 200 meters when they were caught and didn't get any recognition, then they talked about how one of those riders, Filippo Simeoni is suing Lance Armstrong for defamation of character. Though I don't know much about the suit (no one does really), it just seems like a personal grudge that he's trying to settle in court.

And then, to top it off, his team, Domina Vacanze tried to get the peloton to slow down the chase of him and the other leader so they would have a chance to win the stage. Turned out, they didn't win the stage as they were caught and the rider who was trying to slow the peloton down got a nice little shove and almost fell over in a humorous part of the race. I enjoy watching true competitors compete, but crap like this shouldn't be allowed. I want to see Ullrick, Mayo, O'Grady, and McEwen fight with Armstrong for the race, but I don't want to see people in it who are suing other riders and whose team intentionally tries to slow the pace of the race.

Psst...Simeoni & Domina Vacanze...

I kinda felt sorry for Albert Pujols today when I read an article that told the idiots who might not know how to pronounce his name phonetically:
POO-holes
Then I realized me makes millions of dollars a year. I'd make the switch.

An AllMusic.com employee responded at waxy.org to some of the universal complaints the redesign had been getting. Basically, the gist was: we're a small company, so we designed for the masses (87% use IE on their site).
We're a small company with small company resources.
Using the "small company" excuse is pretty lame. I realize that you aren't on the level of Amazon, Google or any other large site, but the new design works, looks, and acts like crap. Pages load slowly, they don't work unless you use IE and you can't tell if anything is text or a link.

Look at IMDb - that is how a site should look - simplistic, cross-platform compatible and easy to use (though IMDb does lack any mobile version). Hopefully they'll get their act together and fix some of the glitches, but the new All Music looks horrible.

So today AllMusic.com launched their new site with a brand new design. I was somewhat looking forward to it as the old design was quite outdated, but at least it got you the information you needed. Now, I'm greeted with a nice welcome message:
Notice: You are accessing allmusic.com with a browser that is not currently supported. The appearance and functionality of the site could be impacted. allmusic.com is optimized for Internet Explorer 5.5 and above for Windows.
So now I can only properly access the site with IE? Are you kidding me? While the majority of people still use IE out there, many are switching to Mozilla/Firefox and many (like me) are never going back to IE. Of course, I can't uninstall IE, so I was able to fire it up and see what the difference was at AllMusic (correct alignment, better links, etc.), but really...spending a lot of time and money to redesign a site and you make it work correctly under IE only? Stupid move. Very stupid move.

One top of that, it seems that navigation-wise, they've done just about everything wrong as well. Images don't have the proper ALT text, links are not underlined (which I don't always do, but at least they should change color or get underlined when you mouseover), and there's other navigation snafus. Overall, the redesign sucks royally and hopefully they'll go back to the old design where you could actually find the information you need and actually worked with some reliability.
