Ducks & Angels. What more could you want?

A couple quick updates. The great guys over at HTD.com offered me two options - either replace the midrange driver which is damaged or wait two weeks for a replacement tower speaker as they are out of stock. After talking with Chris at HTD, he advised me that it would be quite easy to replace the driver, so I took some allen wrenches, looked inside, and I can easily make this change, so I'm doing that instead of waiting for a new tower in two weeks.

The TV is still on the way. It will be in Los Angeles on Monday. Hoping for a Tuesday or Wednesday delivery. Still waiting...

Today my HD-A2 arrived from the wonderful Crutchfield. It came out on Monday, was shipped Monday, and arrived today, three days ahead of schedule. Since I now have every component that is going to go on the beautiful Sony TV stand, I hooked everything up earlier tonight using the wonderful cables from Monoprice.com. I ran into a slight problem though - I can't quite get the speaker wires to thread through the Denon's inputs. I think the problem stems from the fact that I'm using really thick speaker cable. Only the best.

So I placed another order at Monoprice for some banana clips which will make the connection one hundred times easier to make. Those clips should be here Tuesday or Wednesday along with the TV. I'm just not sure when exactly the new midrange driver will be here. Other than that, I've got everything hooked up perfectly I think.

My new Level Three towers and center speaker arrived today. I unboxed them all and they look great. And I just had to see behind those gorgeous grills. See the ribbon tweeter, the woofers, see it all. But looking behind one of them revealed the last thing I wanted to see - a damaged speaker. The little bulb had been bent in somehow. I had been extremely careful unboxing them, as with all my new toys, so I was quite dismayed to see the damage. Luckily I have heard great things about the guys at HTD.com and I'm hoping this won't be a problem. Firing off an e-mail now and we'll see what happens.

Stuff shipped, spent more money...

My second TV is schedule to ship later today or early tomorrow. My HD-DVD player shipped today - it was released today, Crutchfield shipped it today - I love that place.

I also spent a little more money on a subwoofer. I had planned on getting an HTD Level Three subwoofer, but the nice guys over at AVSForum directed me to a specialty company that had a great sub 20% off. It cost a little more than the Level Three, but the STF-3 will easily fill my whole room with bass. Should ship soon and be here around the same time as my other shipments. I figure the TV will be last, but that's fine. As soon as I get the speakers on Wednesday and the HD-DVD player, I can get everything wired in my stand and since there's just one HDMI cable going from the whole system to the TV, it'll be easier than easy to get everything up and running.

After the HDMI cable is plugged in, I'll just have to quickly calibrate the TV (probably going to have it professionally calibrated after 100 hours), and we'll be good to go. I just can't wait. As long as it's all setup by New Year's so I can watch Michigan walk all over USC in 60" glory, I'll be happy.
