I just got back from seeing the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring: Extended Edition in theaters. This is now the 4th time I've seen Fellowship in theaters, and it just doesn't get any better than that. Simply an amazing film every time I watch it. Tomorrow or Saturday, I'll be going to see the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers: Extended Edition in theaters (the 3rd time seeing it in theaters) and I can't wait. And I've got my tickets already for the midnight showing (Tuesday night, Wednesday morning) for The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. And while I love the Star Wars trilogy (the original three), there is no doubt in my mind that the Lord of the Rings trilogy will go down as the greatest in history and will never be topped.

I just feel it's so incredibly stupid that all these car companies - Land Rover, Jeep, Hummer, etc. - all use commercials featuring their cars going off roading, over huge rock structures, over a mountain, or whatever, to sell their cars. I can almost guarantee you that less than 2% of the people who buy said cars go off road with them. Yet, people think, for some reason, that if they own one of these cars, they're cool, even though they never go off road, but they could. The commercials say they can. Granted, I've always wanted a Hummer (not one of those stupid H2's), but if I had a Hummer, I would go off road - all the time. Whenever I could. Why own a Hummer/Land Rover/etc. if you're not going to use it to it's potential? Just buy a friggen minivan.

Despite cheering for both USC and Michigan throughout the college football season, and despite USC being ranked #1 in both the AP and ESPN/USA Today polls, I think the BCS did a good job. It's all to easy to forget USC's loss to Cal earlier in the year, but we all remember Oklahoma losing to Kansas State. The computers did what the sports writiers couldn't and put Oklahoma and LSU in the national championship game. Even though LSU and USC may be the best teams at this moment, over the whole season, Oklahoma and LSU, as evidenced by their #1 and #2 rankings in the BCS were the better teams. They played better opponents, they won bigger games, and, most importantly, they didn't lose to Cal.

On a side note, I'm also happy with the way it turned out because I'm a traditionalist. I want to see Pac10 v. Big10 in the Rose Bowl. I don't want to see Texas or LSU. I want the Pac10 winner (USC) to play the Big10 winner (Michigan). And, if USC wins, they will be co-champions, so good for them. And if my Michigan wins, I'll still be happy because they really shouldn't have lost those two games and they should be in the Sugar Bowl...
