Ducks & Angels. What more could you want?

The weather can just be so odd at times. Yesterday in San Diego, we got our first rain of the month (we were so close to the first dry February in a long time) and I had to have my heater on in my room almost the whole day to stay warm. Today, it was brisk outside, but not too bad - no rain, no real moisture - but the thing is, I haven't had to turn my heater on. I've been using my little space heater almost every night here in San Diego, but tonight, no need - which is just odd. But today was gorgeous with lots of clouds, a nice brisk feel to the weather and hopefully, tomorrow will be the same. The day we really need nice weather though is for Saturday when we have our quarterly sloshball game. Just hoping for no rain (forecast says PM showers - hopefully late PM).

Late last night, after the usual Apache restarts because the server hosting my discussion boards (sd-1.com), I tried to view the website to see how many people were online, but nothing was coming up. So I logged in via SSH to tell the server to restart itself, hoping that would clear anything up, but when it rebooted, nothing came back online. There was no SSH, no telnet, no BASH, nothing. So, SD-1.com is dead. We're trying to move it to another server, but for now, it's dead. Kaput.

While trying to figure out what went wrong, I had initially thought it was just a server crash - a reboot would fix it all, but with everything deleted, it is beginning to appear as if we were hacked. Why? Who knows. We didn't do anything controversial. We didn't do anything to upset the "hacker" community. All we did was run discussion boards for the television show Alias. Yet someone thought, hey - I think I can break into that server and destroy it - let's try.

So now, here we are, without a backup since Dec. 31, 2003, closed while hundreds of members try to log-in, and without a home until Invision Power Services can set up our new hosting account. What fun. Thank you Mr. Hacker. How nice of you to target an innocent server. How nice of you to be such an asshole.
