What an absolutely great game last night. To start it off, Jarrod Washburn (P-LAA) gave up 5 runs in the first two innings, 3 in the first, 2 in the second. He just was leaving every pitch over the middle of the plate and the Indians were hammering him. I knew the Angels could come back, but I never expected it to be in such dramatic fashion. Scoring once in the third and twice in the fourth, the Angels cut it to a 5-3 lead for the Indians. Then...they were shut out through the eighth inning - but so were the Indians. So we're just down 2 with 2 innings to go. Jose Molina singled a run in in the eighth and they were just down one in the bottom of the 9th with Cleveland's closer in. Luckily, he was wild early and he walked Darin Erstad to start the inning. Juan Rivera then bunted him to second before Vladimir Guerrero struck out. Down to the final out, Mr. Clutch, Garett Anderson stepped in and lobbed a little hit between the shortstop and the centerfielder. With two outs, Darin was running on contact and he scored easily to tie the game.
But we're not done there. In the 10th inning, K-Rod came in and completely shut down the Indians line-up. He struck out 2 of the 3 batters throwing a perfect 10th inning and setting himself up for the win if the Angels could score in the bottom of the 10th. First up: Jose Cabrera. Earlier this season, he had won a game in the 10th with a homerun and he was looking to do it again...and he did. On a 2-1 pitch, Jose sat on the change-up and blasted it to left field. It was a great game and once again shows the never-say-die attitude of this great team. Now, if we could just get ANA back instead of LAA.
On an unrelated note, the carpeting went into my room yesterday and I should be able to start the moving-in process in about a week. Finally.
