So I'm sitting here watching former senator Max Cleland giving a news conference as he was turned away from the Texas ranch as he tried to deliver a letter to President Bush asking him to stop the Swift Boat ads. These idiots still are trying to smear Bush like he has anything to do with the Swift Boat Ads. Bush has no links to the Swift Boat Vets. According to law, he cannot tell them what to do. He cannot make them stop running the ads.
He keeps lying in front of the camera trying to advance his own agenda and trying to debase Bush and his presidency. It's complete and utter bullshit and if Cleland is going to sit here and try and advance Kerry's cause through this letter that is signed by nine veterans. He keeps accusing Bush of attacking Kerry's Vietnam service, yet just a couple days ago, Bush praised Kerry's war record, Bush has the utmost respect for Kerry's service in Vietnam. I don't see how they can directly link the Swift Boat Ads to Bush, ads which Bush has completely denounced.
"He is behind it and his campain is behind it." Cleland just stated that the Swift Boat Vets are directly tied to Bush. I'd love to see the proof there. Good thing Cleland said that it wasn't "political theater." What a joke. I'm sure Senator Kerry had nothing to do with that letter.

Globe and Mail: Mr. Bush praised Mr. Kerry's service in Vietnam as "admirable" and said Monday he wanted to see an end to third-party attack ads during the campaign, including those of an organization called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth that challenge Mr. Kerry's version of events that led to his receiving five medals.URL: CNN.com - Lawmakers to Bush: Condemn Kerry attack ads - Aug 25, 2004
