Hell's Angels: DaVanon cycles, team scores 21
You've got to love that title sitting on the front page of ESPN.com. Last night, the Angels teed off on the Kansas City Royals' pitching staff putting up 21 runs on 22 hits. Jeff DaVanon hit for the cycle with a double in the third, a triple in the fourth, a single in the fifth and a home run in the seventh (almost got the cycle in four innings which would have been amazing). Jose Molina hit his first career grand slam as well and the Angels easily swept the season series with Kansas City, seven games to none.
The Angels have now won eight games in a row (including sweeps of the Yankees and the aforementioned Royals), though they are still one half game behind the Oakland Athletics in the AL West as Oakland has won 7 of 9 and won last night in the bottom of the ninth. With the win last night, the Angels kept pace with the Boston Red Sox and the two are still tied above the wild card standings. It should be a great final few games...
