My question is, let's say Howard Dean were in office 2 months ago, let's say he pulled out of Iraq and Saddam Hussein was never captured. Perhaps the UN had taken over peacekeeping efforts and they were just happy to keep the peace, rather than round up the key players. Would Libya have acquiesed to the demands of the West? Would they have revealed their nuclear program, allowed inspectors into their country to search for weapons of mass desctruction? I would think not. It seems now, with the capture of Hussein, with Gadhafi allowing inspectors into Libya, and with the rebuilding progressing in Iraq that a change in power in the United States would just be foolhardy. We're in the middle of an intense fight with the terrorists and, finally some progress is being made, though we are still in danger (as can be evidenced by the Homeland Security Department raising the warning level today). But it just seems asinine to me that anyone would want to elect a pacificist into office during a pivotal time in our country's history.
